NUNAWADING BASKETBALL | The Nunawading ‘Burwood One’ Spectres are excited to announce the return of veteran forward Jesse Caspersz ahead of their SEABL Round 2 match up and Home Opener this Saturday against the Diamond Valley Eagles.

Caspersz enters his ninth season with the Spectres at SEABL level having graduated from the Nunawading junior ranks. An efficient utility off the bench, he spent much of his 2017 campaign sidelined having suffered an ACL injury that required reconstructive surgery.

“I’m stoked to be back playing with the boys,” Caspersz said this week having been given the all clear to play in a competitive environment again.

“Twelve months on the sideline again is tough but I’m eager to get back into it and chase that championship.”

“Our team chemistry is next level this year and I’m just excited to be back and a part of it all again.”

In his last full season (2016), Caspersz returned 7.8 points and 6.0 rebounds off the bench for Nunawading, a role Spectres Head Coach Dave Biwer will be hoping he can once again plug.

“Jesse is great for us, our team, me,” Biwer said.

“He comes in, he works hard and isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. He just does whatever we need at any given time and it’s that attitude that defines what this team is.”

The Spectres claimed a 113-94 road win over the Melbourne Tigers in Round 1. They’ll run out in front of their home crowd for the first time this Saturday night when they play host to league newcomers, Diamond Valley. It will also be the first home double-header of the 2018 SEABL season.
