COLE NAMED TO 3x3 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM
NUNAWADING BASKETBALL | Basketball Australia announced last night it’s selections to represent Australia at the upcoming FIBA 3x3 World Championships, with Rebecca Cole (E.Bees) one of four that will make the trip to France.
Cole, who progressed through the Nunawading Basketball pathway now plays for the Melbourne Boomers in the WNBL. Averaging 9.4 points and 3.2 assists per outing across the 16/17 season with the Boomers has put Cole back on the National Team radar, the FIBA 3x3 World Championships another platform for her to impress new Opals Head Coach Sandy Brondello.
Whilst Cole isn’t currently representing Nunawading in the current SEABL season, she remains heavily involved in the delivery of Nunawading Basketball’s Junior Development Programs and maintains Nunawading Basketball Centre as her regular individual training base.
The FIBA 3x3 World Championships will take place June 17-21 with Australia, ranked 19th in the revised form drawn against Ukraine (6th), China (11th), Japan (14th) and Netherlands (3rd) in the group stage of the tournament.
“The competition will be fierce but we know these players will equip themselves well in a format of the game that is gaining momentum as a high-performance pathway,” said Jan Stirling, General Manager of High Performance.
