Nunawading Basketball News

“I’m back.”

In similar style to the original return of Michael Jordan to the Bulls, iconic figure of Nunawading Basketball, Hector the Spectre announced that he would be returning to the sidelines of The Graveyard, starting with Saturday night’s South East Australian Basketball League showdown between his beloved Nunawading Spectres and arch rivals, the Geelong Supercats.

Hector, who has had many reincarnations over the years at NBL, WNBL, VABA, CBA and SEABL simply walked into Nunawading Basketball Centre earlier this week and said, “Let me do this, the fans need me, my teams need me.”

And with that, Hector’s vigorous training regime began with Nunawading Basketball’s Head Start Development Program on both Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. From there, he moved onto Street Dance Studios in Mitcham, aiming to fast track himself - because he knows, come Saturday night, it’s show time!

“It’s not as easy as just lacing them up and off we go,” Hector said. “I’ve essentially come back from the dead… again!”

“It’s been years since I last performed. I’ve had to get myself back into tip top condition to meet the standards of today’s game. I’ve added size, I’ve added speed and I’m still as charming as ever. I can’t wait to get out there with our fans and help drive our teams to some big wins.”

Hector will be on deck from this Saturday night, along with making numerous public appearances at community events. If you have an event you’d like to have Hector attend, contact Nunawading Basketball HQ on 03 9802 6711.
