MELBOURNE, Nunawading Basketball is thrilled to announce that three star representatives, Rebecca Allen, Alanna Smith and Marena Whittle, have been selected to represent Australia at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. This continues Nunawading Basketball’s remarkable legacy of producing elite athletes for the international stage.

Allen and Smith have both secured spots on the prestigious Australian Opals team. Despite their unavailability for the recent Ballin’24 series against the Chinese in Melbourne, their exceptional form in the WNBA have earned them places on the 12-strong roster heading to Paris. Their selection is a testament to their dedication, skill and impact in the worlds premier women’s leagues.

Marena Whittle will make history as part of Australia’s first ever 3×3 team, the Gangurrus, to qualify for Olympic competition. Her inclusion in the team underscores the growing prominence of 3×3 basketball and highlights Nunawading Basketball’s commitment to fostering talent across all formats of the game.

Adding to this proud moment, the Australian Boomers will once again be led by master coach and Nunawading Basketball legend, Brian Goorjian. Following his leadership to a maiden medal performance in Tokyo 2021, Goorjian is poised to guide the Boomers to even greater heights in Paris.

As the countdown to Paris begins, Nunawading Basketball extends its best wishes to Rebecca Allen, Alanna Smith, Marena Whittle and Brian Goorjian. Their achievements serve as an inspiration to all aspiring athletes and coaches within the Nunawading Basketball community and beyond.

Nunawading Basketball is Australia’s premier basketball club, dedicated to fostering talent and promoting the sport at all levels. With a rich history of success and a commitment to excellence, Nunawading Basketball continues to shape the future of Australian basketball.
