The next wave of Nunawading Spectres talent is ready to hit the court as the 2025 Big V Youth League season tips off this weekend! With both our men’s and women’s squads packed with promising young athletes, the stage is set for an electrifying campaign ahead.

Men’s Youth League: West’s Squad Ready to Make a Statement

Andrew West returns as Head Coach of the Spectres’ Men’s Youth League team, continuing his fifth year at the helm. A former junior and senior Spectres representative, West knows the club inside out and is determined to guide his squad to success.

His roster features a balance of size, skill, and athleticism. With towering presence in the paint from Grantham Milner (208cm) and Jesse Pearce (199cm), perimeter threats like Campbell Jackson (190cm) and Cooper Gill (188cm), and versatile forwards in Alistair Smith (195cm) and Oscar Wadeson (193cm), the team boasts depth across all positions.

They’ll face a tough opening-round matchup against Eltham on the road, tipping off at 8:00 PM on Saturday at Eltham High School.

Men’s Roster: Toluwaleyi Adebayo, Finn Boag, Jacob Bourke-Doggett, Curtis Brecko, Nathan DiCesare, Daniel Fogarty, Anthony Gennaccaro, Cooper Gill, Campbell Jackson, Dylan Johnstone, Grantham Milner, Jesse Pearce, Alistair SMith, Oscar Wadeson, Dihan Wiggett. 

Women’s Youth League: Quick’s Era Begins

After serving as an assistant in 2024, Amy Quick steps into the Head Coach role for the Spectres Women’s Youth side. However this weekend isn’t her debut coaching performance having guided the team through the Youth Qualification Series, securing a strong win over Pakenham to book their spot in the Victorian Youth Championship division.

Quick’s squad features a strong mix of experienced returners and exciting new talent. Lija Lacey-Myers (195cm) anchors the team in the paint, supported by versatile forwards like Zoe Shahahan (188cm) and Emilia Drmic (184cm). The backcourt is stacked with playmakers, including, Teagan Potter (173cm), and Mia Tamburrini (174cm), giving the Spectres a potent blend of size and speed.

The women open their campaign with a tough double-header on the road—Saturday at 5:00 PM against Bendigo at Red Energy Arena, followed by a Sunday clash at 12:30 PM against Altona at Altona Sports Centre.
