The Nunawading Spectres and Rachel Brewster have announced that the sharpshooter will return to The Graveyard at Nunawading Basketball Centre again for the NBL1 2020 season.

Brewster was a mid-season addition to the Spectres lineup in 2019, having previously represented the program at both SEABL and Big V levels. The guard then completed a 4-year stint at Utah State University where she played 126 games for the Aggies, finishing her collegiate career ranked fourth all-time in scoring, eighth in rebounds, third in field goals made.

“It was never a question if I’d be back with Nunawading for the upcoming NBL1 season,” Brewster said.

“I’m excited to get back to work with an amazing group of girls and coaches. I believe we’re going to have a really strong team and can’t wait to see how we can build and improve on last season.”

In 16 games for Nunawading in NBL1 competition, Brewster returned 8.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Her performances went well beyond any statistical category though and was rewarded at seasons end with a roster spot at the Melbourne Boomers in the WNBL.

“We’re extremely excited to have Rach locked in for the season ahead,” Spectres Head Coach Paul Flynn said.

“She’s an incredibly talented young player, with a strong will to succeed. I think she just teased us with what she is capable of last season and am looking forward to what she can deliver in a full season with the team, including a good pre-season.”

“In a Boomers environment, she’s up against WNBA caliber players everyday; I can’t wait to see that experience translate into NBL1 performances for the Nunawading Spectres.”

Brewster joins co-captains Izzy Chilcott and Rachel Antoniadou as confirmed returnee’s for Nunawading in 2020.

In 2020, the Spectres are set to play 11 home game double-headers (women’s / men’s) at The Graveyard – Nunawading Basketball Centre, with the season scheduled to start in April.
