The Nunawading Spectres U12 Girls teams were treated to a surprise guest at their midweek training sessions this week, with Australian Opals superstar and Nunawading Spectres representative Rebecca Allen dropping in to spend time on and off court with each team.

Bec who has extended her time home following the FIBA Women’s World Cup, was incredibly generous with her time and encouragement with the next wave of Spectres stars which could feature the next Spectres’ Opal to guide Australia to the top of the podium and a World Cup or Olympic event. She is set to re-join her Euro League side Valencia Basket (Spain) shortly.

Following the teams on-court sessions, Bec spoke to the girls about her career progression from her early days running around Nunawading Basketball Centre for both the E.Bees and Spectres through to her professional achievements in the WNBL, WNBA and European Leagues as well as representing Australia at both the Olympics and World Cup.

We are sure that both Valencia Basket and the New York Liberty just found a lot of new Melbourne based fans.

A huge thank you to Nunawading Spectres Development Squad Coach Damian Arsenis for organising and U12.4 Girls Head Coach Rachel Gill for capturing all of the excitement.
