The Nunawading Spectres Big V Youth League teams are set to light up The Graveyard this Saturday night in their 2025 home opener, facing off against local rivals Kilsyth Cobras in a highly anticipated Round 2 showdown.
Both teams will be looking to make a statement in front of their home crowd after a challenging start to the season on the road in Round 1.
Youth League Women – Quick Era Begins at Home
Under the guidance of new head coach Amy Quick, the Spectres Women showed flashes of brilliance in their opening round, securing an 88-65 win over Bendigo before falling to Altona 60-85 the following day. Teagan Potter was a standout, earning League All First Team honors after a dominant 28-point, 6-rebound, 3-assist, 4-steal performance against Bendigo.
Kilsyth opened their campaign with an 85-73 win over Pakenham, setting the stage for a high-energy clash this Saturday. With new faces settling into the squad, Nunawading will be aiming to defend home court and build momentum heading into the season.
Youth League Men – West Leads Spectres into Year Five
Now in his fifth year at the helm, Andrew West will be looking for a big response from his squad after a tough 78-91 road loss to Eltham in their season opener. With fresh talent in the mix for 2025, the team will need to rise to the challenge against a red-hot Kilsyth side.
The Cobras come into Round 2 full of confidence after securing back-to-back wins in Round 1, defeating Hume City (81-61) and Keysborough (86-66). The Spectres will need to bring their best effort to slow down Kilsyth’s momentum and claim their first win of the season.
Be There – Defend The Graveyard
With rivalries renewed and the energy of a home crowd behind them, both Spectres teams will be primed for battle. Get down to The Graveyard this Saturday night and be part of the action!
