The Nunawading Spectres are excited to announce the signing of athletic US import Megan Mullings for the upcoming NBL1 season.
Currently playing for Flippo Baskets BG 74 in the German DBBL, Mullings is no stranger to NBL1 competition, having played an integral role for the Ringwood Hawks last season averaging 15.9 points and 7.2 rebounds across 22 games. In Germany, the 6’1” Arizonan is returning 11.4 points and 6.3 rebounds.
“I’m super excited to be back in Australia,” Mullings, who will also play an important role in the delivery of Nunawading Basketball’s community and development programs said from her German base.
“I’ve been missing the people and all the kids, but I’m especially missing the basketball.
“It’ll be different this year suiting up as a Spectre but I am really looking forward to getting to Nunawading, meeting my new teammates and learning from them and my new coach. I can’t wait to pull on that blue jersey coming back into NBL1.”
Flippo Baskets BG 74 currently sit 8日 in DBBL standings and with 2-games remaining in the regular season, look safe to lock in the final playoff position. Results pending, Mullings will be set to arrive into Melbourne sometime in April.
“We’re excited to be adding Megan to our roster for the 2020 season,” Nunawading Head Coach Paul Flynn said.
“We saw what she is capable of at NBL1 level last season. I’m excited at how her skillset compliments the players we already have in our squad and confident that we can get even more out of her given the pieces we’ll be able to put around her.”
“Megan is having a great season over in Germany right now and whilst we wish her and her team every success for the upcoming playoffs, we can’t wait to get her out here and on court with her Spectres teammates.”
It’s a timely signing for the Spectres who announced yesterday that import Schaquilla Nunn would miss the 2020 NBL1 season following a knee injury sustained on contract in Egypt. Whilst reports indicate that the injury is not severe, the rehabilitation timeline overlapped with the start of the NBL1 South season.
Mullings joins Izzy Wright (nee Chilcott), Rachel Antoniadou, Rachel Brewster, Jacinta Vandenberg and Tessa Boyd as confirmed signings for Nunawading, with Flynn suggesting that there are still some exciting names to come for Spectres fans.
The Spectres will open their NBL1 South campaign at home, Saturday 18 April 2020 against the Diamond Valley Eagles – the first of 11-home game double-headers with the Spectres men scheduled in the regular season.
Nunawading Basketball has released some exciting new partnerships for the 20202 NBL1 season, including an expanded Player Sponsorship Package and all new Digital Content Rights on offer.
