Devers Lands in Brisbane

Nunawading Spectres teenage star, Tristan Devers has inked a one-year deal with the Brisbane Bullets in the National Basketball League. An MEBA junior, Devers grew up playing for the Nunawading Kangas, progressing through the representative pathway including state and national representation as a junior athlete.

The Brisbane Bullets have signed 18-year-old Australian youth international and Nunawading Spectres guard Tristan Devers to a one-year deal.

Devers will join the club as a development player for NBL24, following 16 appearances for the Spectres in NBL1 South this past season, where he averaged 8.3 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.

He has previously worked with head coach Justin Schueller and assistant Greg Vanderjagt as a member of the Australian U17 team, and has represented his country at both the U17 World Cup and U16 Asian Cup.

“Tristan comes to us as an athlete with a very bright future in the league,” Schueller said.

“I have said it many times, that all the guys I coached in the last U17 Crocs team can be pros in the NBL and Tristan showed time and time again he had a pro mindset already.

“He competes hard on every possession and has a skill package that’s best in a three and d type role.

“We see him evolving into a highly skilled tall guard and believe he will be an impact player long term.”

“Justin and Vandy have already been a part of my basketball development, I travelled with them competing in both the U16 Asia Cup and U17 World Cup in 2022,” Devers added.

“Justin has given me heavy defensive roles in the past and had expectations of bringing outside shooting. These attributes will always be a focus of mine in any environment, as well as the continued progression of playing off a pick-and-roll and handling the ball.

“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to develop in an NBL professional environment for the first time, amongst players that have had both national and international experience.”
